ABOUT

I am an award-winning multimedia journalist and filmmaker based between Nairobi, Kenya, and London. I cover security and development issues across Africa, as well as business and economics, and travel and culture. 

I have contributed to outlets including the Guardian, BBC, CNN, Channel 4, the New York Times, Sky News, CBS 60 Minutes, National Geographic, Daily and Sunday Telegraph, the Times (UK), the Independent (UK), Al Jazeera English, the FT's This is Africa, the New Statesman, Monocle, the Christian Science Monitor, IRIN News, Deutsche Welle, RTÉ and the Economist Intelligence Unit.

I have also produced multimedia for non-profits including Human Rights Watch, the International Crisis Group, the World Bank, Save the Children and UNHCR. Through my Kenya-registered production company, I offer location services to international television, documentary and film crews. Working with a talented and experienced local team, recent clients have included BBC, Channel 4 and CBS. 

I am used to operating in challenging environments and have a Level 4 BTEC in Surviving Hostile Regions – I have also completed emergency medical training through RISC. I served on the board of the Foreign Correspondents' Association of East Africa for three years, including two as Chair (2016-18). I remain a Trustee of the Association. I am an experienced moderator and commentator, and also regularly work in French.

I previously worked for the International Crisis Group at their Brussels headquarters and for the humanitarian news service IRIN.
