In 2004, I interviewed the photographer Tim Hetherington for The Oxford and Cambridge Careers Guide, which I was editing while a student. He passed on gracious, inspiring and thoughtful advice for aspiring young journalists, which we published in that year's edition of the guide. Over ten years later and now a multimedia journalist myself, I was lucky enough to be accepted on RISC XI, the medical training course set up in his memory after he was killed in Libya in 2011. I'm sharing this at the request of RISC and with the blessing of his family and partner.
